Brandon Miller Returns to the East Coast for 2017 Season
Harrisburg, Pa (March 9, 2017) – The Harrisburg City Islanders announced today that they have signed former goalie of the year, Brandon Miller, for the 2017 season, pending League and Federation approval.
Miller comes to Harrisburg after spending the 2016 USL season with the Orange County Blues FC, where he surrendered 25 goals on 65 shots for the California team.
In 2015, while playing for the Rochester Rhinos, Miller only surrendered 11 goals throughout the season. He was able to keep a clean sheet in 13 of his 20 starts and led his team to an overall 17-1-10 record on the season. In the same season, Miller set the single-season record for shutouts (13) and goals against average (0.54).
Miller foresees a successful season with the Islanders in 2017.
“I am looking forward to joining the Harrisburg City Islanders because the team has had success in the past, I’ve had personal success and this is a good move for me moving forward. There’s a strong core group of guys returning, and I know that coach Becher and the staff are going to put together a competitive group to get us back into the playoffs and competing for the championship,” stated Miller.
Head Coach Bill Becher also expects great things from the notable goalkeeper this season.
“Brandon is a big signing for us this year. He brings not only experience, but also a winning mentality. He won the championship with Rochester in 2015, was named USL Goalkeeper of the Year and I think he’s going to do very well with us this year.”
During the 2015 playoffs, Miller gave up only one goal in three games. Rochester went on to win the 2015 USL-Championship over the LA Galaxy II.
Miller joins the Harrisburg City Islanders as the first goalie signed to the 2017 roster.
