Harrisburg’s Most Winning Goalkeeper Joins the Islanders for His Sixth Season
Harrisburg, Pa (March 20, 2017) – The Harrisburg City Islanders announce today the signing of veteran goalkeeper Nick Noble. The West Virginia native is set to spend his sixth season with the Harrisburg club.
According to the Islanders veteran, “It’s an honor to be a part of an organization that strives to be better and grow in the right direction on a year-to-year basis. I have seen the League and the organization grow over the years and it’s an exciting time to be a City Islander.”
Noble has been the standard in net for the Islanders since his arrival in 2012, when he posted a 1.26 GAA and tallied eight shutouts throughout his rookie campaign. Since then Noble has played in at least 15 games in a season with a high of 28 appearances in 2015.
Noble currently holds Islanders records for wins, career saves, matches played by a goalkeeper, minutes played by a goalkeeper and career shutouts. Noble brings veteran leadership and stability to the goalie position.
Head Coach Bill Becher stated, “Nick has played a big role for the team since 2012 and we are glad to have him back this season.”
Before joining the Islanders in 2012 Noble spent time in the MLS and Europe with several teams. He was a first-round draft pick by the MLS Chicago Fire in the 2007 MLS Super Draft and made his debut for the club during the 2008 US Open Cup.
After his time in the MLS, Noble moved overseas to play with Sweden’s Ljungskile SK for the 2010 and 2011 seasons. While in Europe, Noble made 59 starts for Ljunskile before returning to the States and signing a contract with the LA Galaxy at the end of 2011.
Noble is a graduate of West Virginia University, where he was a four-year starter and named the Big East Goalkeeper of the Year in 2008.
Noble is the second goaltender signed by the City Islanders in 2017. Brandon Miller signed with the Islanders earlier in the month.
