Aaron Wheeler is back for his second season with the Harrisburg City Islanders after an abbreviated 2016 campaign.
Although the forward only made appearances in 13 games for a total of 798 minutes, Wheeler scored five goals and one assist during the 2016 season.
Prior to signing with Harrisburg, the 6-foot-4 forward had a successful season run with the Wilmington Hammerheads in 2015 and spent two seasons with the Philadelphia Union of MLS. Wheeler made a total of 15 appearances in 2014 with the Union, starting in eight and playing for 759 minutes. In 2013, he appeared in 10 matches for the Philadelphia team, scored one goal and tallied one assist. In that same year, Wheeler was loaned to the Harrisburg City Islanders for three matches, where he scored two goals for the Union’s then-USL affiliate.
Before his MLS campaign, Wheeler played for the Reading Rage in the USL Premier Development League (PDL) during his collegiate career at Lenoir-Rhyne University and Towson University. He was 2009 PDL MVP and led the league in scoring 17 goals.
