Cardel Benbow is back for his third season with the Harrisburg City Islanders.
In his 25 appearances last season, the 5-foot-4 midfielder scored two goals and dished out two assists for the team in his 1,524 minutes of action on the field. In 2015, Benbow put up similar numbers in 19 games and collected 6 points for the Islanders.
Benbow’s club career started in Kingston, Jamaica with Waterhouse FC of the Jamaican National Premier League, but he has represented the Jamaican National Team in numerous Senior and Youth competitions. In 2015, Benbow suited up for the Reggae Boyz in the CONCACAF Championship, whom he also played for in 2014 during the CAC games in Veracruz, Mexico, scoring his first international goal. Additionally, the Jamaican footballer played for 90 minutes in his debut against MLS D.C. United in the CONCACAF Champions League and has suited up for the Tampa Marauders.
Cardel Benbow played three successful seasons for St. Georges College where he helped the team to a double championship, winning both the Manning Cup and the Olivier Shield in 2012. He made his senior team debut in October 2014 versus Japan.
