A Dublin, Ireland native, Denis is entering his third year as an Islanders assistant coach. Denis Clarke played for the Irish Schoolboy and youth national programs from 1984 to 1988, and was also a trialist with Millwall FC (London, England). Clarke left Ireland to accept a full college scholarship to Providence College, before transferring to Elizabethtown College, where he studied in 1989. There, he studied Elementary Education and was a three-year Regional All-American.
Clarke continued his career with Longford Town FC in the League of Ireland in 1995, before leaving for the United States once again to play semi-professional soccer with the Lancaster Spartans in the New York Super League for two years. Denis obtained his coaching license from the League of Ireland in 1989.
Denis is also the Junior Academy Director with LDC United, where he has been working with multiple teams within the club for 19 years. He has also been working with the City Islander Academy programs since its formation 13 years ago.
