The Harrisburg City Islanders have added another forward to their 2017 roster with the signing of Fredrick Yamoah Opoku from Ghana.
Opoku most recently spent time in the Ghana Premier League as a member of Inter Allies FC.
Harrisburg already has two players from the same Ghanaian club in Abass Mohammed and Ropapa Mensah.
Opoku got his start in Ghana as a part of the Accra Youth program before being called up to join the senior side during the first round of games in the 2013-14 season.
After not playing in the first 15 games of his professional career, Opoku saw his first action in the latter portion of the season and became an integral part of the club’s resurgence and run to the final of the Ghana FA Cup.
In the following season, Opoku set a record by playing in all 30 games in the 2014-15 season. He was the first young player to achieve this feat.
Opoku saw his first international action in 2016 when he was called to be a part of the Ghana National U20 team and played during the African Youth Championship qualifiers.
