Position: Assistant Coach

Correia joins the Islanders coaching staff in 2017.
Correia holds UEFA licenses along with experiences coaching and playing in major competitions throughout the world.
Correia is a Portuguese native that spent the majority of his professional playing career between both the Portuguese National Team and numerous professional clubs in Europe.
He started his soccer career with the Estrela Da Amadora youth program and was called up to their first division team when he turned 18. While playing for the youth program and the first team, he also spent time with the Portuguese National Team from U15 through U21.
A skilled competitor, Correia had a stint with the European powerhouse FC Porto in 1999 during their run to the Portuguese Super Cup and Champions League competition.
After putting his playing days behind him, he transitioned into coaching. Initially, Correia worked as a technical coordinator at Sporting C.P. in 2009 and returned to F.C. Porto in the same role in 2012.
His assistant coaching career includes Europa league competition with Panathinaikos A.O. (Greece), Parana Club (Brazil), WKS Zawisza (Poland), Sporting Clube Olhanense (Portugal), and most recently Tractor Sazi F.C. (Iran).
Correia joins Bill Becher (Head Coach), Denis Clarke (Strength and Conditioning Coach), and Steve Widdowson (Goalkeeping Coach) for the 2017 season.
