Academy to Host 2017 Capital Cup Tournament

Harrisburg City Islanders Youth Academy To Host 2017 Capital Cup Tournament

Harrisburg, PA (February 8,2017)- The Harrisburg City Islanders Youth Academy is pleased to announce that they will be hosting the Capital Cup Tournament in 2017. The tournament will be held Saturday, June 17th and Sunday, June 18th.

Following the footsteps of the Kicks4Kids Tournament hosted this same weekend in the past, the Capital Cup Tournament will benefit two organizations dedicated to empowering and assisting children across the Harrisburg area.  These organizations are The Outreach Program for Soccer (TOPSoccer) and the Four Diamonds organization. TOPSoccer is a community-based program that works to provide soccer opportunities for boys and girls with disabilities. Four Diamonds is a Hershey-based organization that provides direct support to 600 child cancer patients at PennState Children’s Hospital and their families annually. To learn more about Four Diamonds and how you can get involved, visit http://www.fourdiamonds.org/.

Stemming from all over the Mid-Atlantic area, The Capital Cup will host both travel and premier u9-u15 teams from Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Maryland and Virginia. Both boys and girls teams are invited to compete.  Tournament fees range from $575 to $795 depending on the age group.  In addition, discounted Hershey Park tickets are available to all participants.

The Capital Cup Tournament will take place at the fields of Central Dauphin East Middle and High Schools, and East Pennsboro Middle School, which are only 15 minutes from Hershey Park and Downtown Harrisburg.

ABOUT THE HARRISBURG CITY ISLANDERS

The Harrisburg City Islanders are entering their 14th Season in Central Pennsylvania as a professional soccer team in the United Soccer League. The league represents the highest level of competition in the United States and Canada outside of Major League Soccer (MLS). In addition to the professional squad, the Harrisburg City Islanders Academy fields youth teams for boys and girls ages 9-23.
