Danny DiPrima Returns for 2017 Season

Danny DiPrima Returns to the Harrisburg City Islanders for the 2017 Season

The Harrisburg City Islanders Opt to Retain the Hometown Midfielder in 2017

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Harrisburg, PA (January, 17, 2017) – The Harrisburg City Islanders have exercised their option to retain midfielder Danny DiPrima for the 2017 Season. DiPrima is a local talent who signed a one-year deal with Harrisburg In 2016, and will remain a key member of the City Islanders rotation in 2017.
DiPrima has been a determined member of the Harrisburg club since joining the team in 2014. He sat down with Micheal Bullock of PennLive during his rookie campaign and showcased his competitive fire. “Being a first-year guy, I expected to (need) to do a lot of work to get in the team and I have,” said DiPrima, who at the time was a fresh face on the USL stage after finishing his collegiate career at NC State University.
DiPrima fought to prove his determination in his last few seasons with the club after enduring a season ending injury in 2015 and playing an abbreviated season last year as he battled to return to the field. City Islanders Head Coach Bill Becher looks forward to seeing DiPrima return to full strength in 2017. “He had an injury his second year (2015) that cut his season short. He was still fighting back from that in 2016,” said Becher. “He had some good moments and did some good things…but being a year removed from the injury, he’ll be a lot better in 2017.”.

Similar to Becher, DiPrima is also excited to see how he’ll perform in 2017 and is fully committed to pushing the club to its highest potential.
“I couldn’t be more excited to be coming back to the Islanders this season! To be able to represent this club is very special to me,” said the Central PA native who also stressed the importance of playing for his hometown club. “Playing in front of my family, friends, and in my hometown is an extra drive to motivate me to help this club achieve its goals. I’m looking forward to getting our season started.”
DiPrima only played in 16 games for Harrisburg in 2016, but still put up solid numbers in his return from injury. DiPrima amassed 480 minutes of action last season, and he turned those minutes into 4 shots including 1 shot on goal. DiPrima looks to build on his momentum from last season as one of the local footballer’s top priorities is to start off the season at 100 percent.
Danny DiPrima returns to midfield with Paul Wilson and Mouhamed Dabo, taking Harrisburg’s roster to three players signed for the 2017 season.
