MATCH PREVIEW: Harrisburg City Islanders v Richmond Kickers

Harrisburg, PA (May 12, 2017) – The Harrisburg City Islanders conclude their long road trip with a match-up against their long-time rivals the Richmond Kickers on Saturday, May 13 at 7 p.m. in City Stadium.

Harrisburg has dropped two games during their three-game stint on the road and look to take home some momentum with a win in Richmond.

It is the City Islanders second game at City Stadium this season. In the first match-up, Aaron Wheeler missed a penalty kick that would have put the Islanders ahead by a goal early in the game.

Richmond capitalized on the miscue in the 57th minute with a goal from Connor Shanosky that was the ultimate decider in the game. Harrisburg had a series of chances to end the match but failed to find the equalizer.

Although Richmond has played one more game, the two rivals are currently tied in the standings with seven points a piece. Harrisburg can vault themselves right back into a playoff position with a win in Richmond.

Harrisburg gets two key players back for Saturday’s game in Brandon Miller and Abass Mohammed after they served their one-game red card suspensions.

Miller has been strong in net this season and the Islanders will need for him to step up again to sure up a defense that just surrendered three goals in their last outing.

Harrisburg also needs to find scoring from their group of talented midfielders and forwards. Aaron Wheeler leads the team with two goals on four shots on target. Wheeler’s scoring is backed up by four other teammates who have tallied goals this season.

Richmond’s leading scorer Fred Owusu Sekyere has two goals on the season and has put eight shots on goal in his seven appearances on the season. The Kickers have had a carousel between the pipes this year as they have used three different goalies in their seven games.
