Following a break in the action, the Harrisburg City Islanders are back on the road to take on Orlando City B at Orlando City Stadium this Wednesday, August 2 at 7:30 p.m.
Before their 10 day hiatus from play, the City Islanders went through a stretch of five games in the span of two weeks. The stretch was mostly successful, but the fatigue of the team was present in their last match against FC Cincinnati on July 22.
Harrisburg suffered significant injuries in the past 3 games to key players like Mouhamed Dabo and Cardel Benbow, who were vital to the Islanders success at home. Dabo was named to the USL Team of the Week (week 17) after his solid performances in midfield against the New York Red Bulls II and Charlotte Independence.
Both Harrisburg and Orlando City B have 23 points on the season and sit in 10th and 11th place, respectively. A win for either team on Wednesday would put them right back into the playoff race.
This is the second meeting of the year between these two teams. Tiago Calvano converted a penalty kick late in the first match to break the scoreless draw. Harrisburg looked like it was on its way to a win and three points but Orlando scored in the waning minutes of action to tie the game.
Orlando City B is undefeated in their last five matches, included four-straight draws, and the results are a lot better on the road than at home, where they have only one win in nine matches.
Harrisburg stays on the road for their first match against the Tampa Bay Rowdies on Saturday, August 5 at Al Lang Stadium. The Islanders return home on Tuesday, August 8 to take on the Rochester Rhinos in the final leg of the Capelli Sport Hero Cup at 7 p.m.
