MATCH PREVIEW: Islanders Return Home to Take on Tampa Bay

The Harrisburg City Islanders return home after a few weeks away from FNB Field to take on the Tampa Bay Rowdies on Wednesday, Sept. 6 at 6:30 p.m.

Harrisburg and the Rowdies are meeting for the second and final time this season. Tampa Bay took the first match in a 3-0 win in Florida.

The City Islanders are currently towards the bottom of the table and need to make up points fast if they want to make a push for the playoffs. Luckily for the Islanders, they play five of their seven home matches at FNB Field, where they have only lost two games all season.

In their last five matches, Harrisburg has failed to score a goal. The lack of offense has led to breakdowns in defense as well. To get back on track, the Islanders need players like Ropapa Mensah, Paul Wilson and Jamie Thomas to make an impact on the game.

Harrisburg’s leading scorer, Wilson has three goals on the season but needs to step up if they Islanders want to make their way back into a competitive position.

The City Islanders have a talented front line but haven’t been able to find the quality to get the final touch to open up the defense.

Tampa Bay, on the other hand, has scored least two goals in their last five matches and look to continue their ascent up the tables and into a top four position. Tampa Bay has two scorers with eight goals on the season in Martin Paterson and Georgi Hristov. They are followed by former English footballer Joe Cole who has six goals.

The City Islanders need your help to make a push for the playoffs! Come out to the Island to cheer on the Islanders to important victories to end the season.

The gates at FNB Field will open at 5:00 PM. All fans are encouraged to bring their nation’s flag to celebrate International Night and participate in the ‘Around the World Map’ activity during the game.
