The Harrisburg City Islanders announced today that their matchup against the Richmond Kickers on Saturday, July 15 will be broadcast live on ABC27.
ABC27’s Sports Director Gregg Mace will call the game live with Gary Sutton. Mace has covered the Islanders since their inception in 2004 and has called play-by-play for soccer games on ESPN and Fox Soccer Channel.
ABC27 is one of the preeminent television stations in the region and have always shown dedication to local professional sports teams like the City Islanders throughout their broadcasting schedules.
The game will be seen on ABC27’s digital channel ABC27.3 and also on four different area cable systems (Comcast 245, Verizon 462, Blue Ridge 226 and Kuhn 69). Abc27 had previously televised Islanders games both live and on tape delay.
The Harrisburg City Islanders join the USL Television Network, which debuted in April, as the 19th market. In 2017, the USL Television Network will reach more than 10 million households, airing more than 300 games.
Many other USL teams like the Pittsburgh Riverhounds and Louisville City FC have already had great success with locally televised games. The USL has grown in viewership in the past year with weekly featured matches shown on the ESPN network of channels.
Richmond and Harrisburg have a rich history of playing exciting games between two teams that have been involved with the USL since its inception. Both teams are part of the five-team “Old Guard Shield”, which recognizes some of the most historic clubs in the USL.
